Chapter 355: Protect The City 2.

Chapter 355: Protect The City 2.

The Orc leaders were still surprised by the salvo of arrows that had been shot at the Orc soldiers, They hadn’t even had time to prepare a command before the second round landed, killing many Orcs who were still climbing up the walls.

Witnessing the deaths of their companions, the remaining Orcs decided to proceed with caution as the Tier 7 Orcs ordered them to raise their shields that was strapped to their backs in defense against any more arrows.

However, no more arrows were launched after the second round.

Despite the absence of arrows, the Orcs continued to climb cautiously, shielded as best they could.

Their climbing speed dropped considerably, but they persisted with their shields up, with the fear that another round would just fall next.

What the Orcs failed to realize was that the guards had stopped shooting arrows not because they were reloading, but because the commanding guard had sent a group of guards to collect rocks strewn near the gates.

Although the Black armoured guards couldn’t comprehend how so many medium-sized rocks had ended up there or why the commanding guard wanted them retrieved, but they still obediently followed his orders.

The guard’s actions had consistently demonstrated that protecting the city was his top priority.

And within seconds, the rocks were distributed among the mages waiting at the top of the city gates.

Meanwhile, some of the fast moving Orcs had reached the top of the gates, climbed and were now just a few feet away from the guards.

Many of the guards appeared pale and afraid, realizing they had to face the Orcs with nothing but the stones in their hands now as they have dropped their weapons.

The Orcs were far stronger than the average human, and they were mostly the mages with low affinity talent and that’s why they choose the guard job where the academy provided them with cultivation resources in exchange for their services

So a normal battle between them and the Orcs would almost certainly end in there defeats.

Now, with the Orcs outnumbering them the situation grew even more dire.

"Duck!"

The commanding guard’s voice echoed once more, almost sounding like divine intervention to the guards.

Just as they couldn’t understand the significance of retrieving the stones, they were equally uncertain about the reason behind his words on why he would want them to duck in this situation, but they were willing to follow any order that would keep them from facing the Orcs head-on with such low morale, especially after what their captain had done.

"Fire!"

Bang!!!

The thunderous echo that rippled through the soldiers who had ducked down sent shivers down their spines as they imagined what would have happened if they hadn’t obeyed the guard’s command.

He had been issuing orders to various units simultaneously, and it was shocking to witness how proficient he was at commanding them despite being just a guard like them.

"Rise and throw the rocks in your hands down at the remaining Orcs attempting to climb to the top of the walls, Don’t let them gain a foothold again!" Explore more at novelhall.Côm

The guard’s words resounded, infusing them with energy as they stood up.

However, one particular soldier who had only recently joined couldn’t help but puke when he saw the mangled Orc organs in front of him.

He turned around and noticed concealed cannons in another part of the walls, These cannons had been well-placed and had being responsible for claiming the lives of many Orcs that just climbed the walls

"Go!" the Tier 7 Orc commanded, prompting the Mohawk Orc to dash towards the city walls as he had finally run out of patience .

"Why did you send him forward?, With the way things are going, we might still be able to open the gates!"

The other Orc with braided hair questioned, displaying a rare intelligence.

"I’m tired of waiting, I want it now and that guard commanding is proving to be stubborn nut, so we’ll go with your tactics. I can’t bear to see so many loyal soldiers dying when it can be prevented,"

The Tier 7 Orc stated, while the braided hair Orc grunted in response, choosing not to say anything further.

The Mohawk Orc landed on the city walls, causing the stones beneath him to shoot out like deadly projectiles, killing almost every guard they passed through.

Some were fortunate enough to survive with severe injuries, With a wild laughter, the Mohawk Orc swung his sword in a circular motion, creating a transparent blade made of force that slaughtered nearly every human guard in his vicinity.

His deranged laughter echoed through the walls as he became drenched in blood, Raising his sword to his lips, he delicately licked the blade while maintaining eye contact with the guard in charge of the command.

The Orc, although unable to see the guard’s facial expressions, still saw the exhibited deep anger in his eyes through his helmet.

"Hehehe, are you mad because I killed your puppets? It’s no biggie. Come and avenge them if you’re man enough," the Orc taunted with his hands wide open.

However, the commanding guard remained unfazed, continuing to issue commands as if the Orc held no significance.

Enraged, the Orc attempted to dash towards the guard, intending to finish him off once and for all.

But he felt that he was locked on by three Tier 5 mages, But before the three Tier 5 mages who had decided to stop him could even mount an effort, he unleashed three sword lights that sliced through the clouds, accurately striking the hidden Tier 5 mages.

Though the Orc saw them as mere remnants of the academy’s defensive mechanisms, he couldn’t be certain if they were truly defeated by his strikes.

However, he knew that he had attacked with all his might, so if they somehow survived, they would undoubtedly be gravely injured.

In one thunderous stomp, the Orc stood face-to-face with the commanding guard, his sword raised high, just milliseconds away from severing the guard’s neck.

Taking a moment to peer into the guard’s eyes, he hoped to finally witness fear reflected in them, But to his astonishment, all he found was unyielding anger.

"Something is amiss, Every human fears death. How can this one be so unnaturally calm?" the Mohawk Orc wondered, before abruptly feeling his vision blur, Bewildered, he tried to glance down, only to realize that his upper body had been violently ripped from the rest of his body.

The ironic twist was that he still didn’t comprehend how he had met his demise or who had struck him down.

Even in his final moments, he hadn’t suspected the commanding guard for a second thought.

His lifeless body plummeted to the ground as he took his final breath and perished.

"You killed one of my generals, You shall pay!" the Tier 7 Orc declared, launching a strike at the Guard.

"You spout nothing but drivel," the commanding guard retorted.

With one hand, he removed his helmet, revealing his face, and with the other hand, he reached forward, gripping the air as if grasping an invisible sword.

He then moved his hands to strike towards the Orc with nothing but grasped air.
