Chapter 314: The Chase Part 2

Chapter 314: The Chase Part 2

The Orc chief swung his large battle axe down on the humanoid form of the Root who led his army of plant life forms in pursuit of Alec and his group.

Meanwhile, the same army struggled to keep the Orcs out of the race to reach Alec and his group.

Suddenly, the Root sensed someone attempting to launch a sneak attack and swiftly swung his left hand behind him, conjuring a wooden shield in mid-air, stopping the Huge Battle Axe.

He turned around to confront the Orc chief, who appeared like an evil incarnate in his skull helmet as he rode on his wolf mount.

"How dare you come between me and my preys?" the Root questioned, slamming his body towards the Wolf that had finally caught up with him.

"you, a mere plant, dare call living beings your prey?, When did you become a beast that preys on humans as you desire ?, Don’t mess with me. I’m certain now that you’re chasing the same humans who killed my hunters, raided and stole my power stones. And you’re in my way!" The Orc chief responded with frustration,

"That’s none of my business, This group of mages is mine, and no one steals my kill!" the Root said back

"How dare you act rudely towards me?, You are just a detached clone that has evolved on your own, The human mages are mine to kill," The Orc Chief replied defiantly.

Infuriated, the Orc chief launched and attack again with his axe followed by a huge amount of Qi, while the Root launched a counterattack, summoning swords made of tree bark that rained down on the Orc Chief.

The Orc chief canceled his attack as he withdraw his his weapon, amd rotated his huge battle axe, deflecting the wooden swords.

But by the time he was through getting rid of them, he realized that the Root was already way ahead of him in the chase.

"Shit, he’s mine!"

The Chief shouted, running forward to intercept the Root again.

He believed that the Root had ulterior motives and was hell-bent on killing a human to obtain his own power stones that have been stolen.

And all this just left the Chief in a puzzled state, After all, plant life forms were not lovers of battle.

They rarely even showed themselves talk less of leaving the Divine Tree Region, only emerging to defend the forest when it was threatened.

However, the divine tree, which had reached the peak of the Tier realm, had split itself into multiple parts in preparation for its evolution to the monarch realm.

Rather than splitting its consciousness and controlling them like clones, the divine tree decided to let the awakened consciousness and develop naturally.

As a result, the awakened body parts viewed the divine tree as their parent after they awaken there own consciousness , while others saw them as Abandoned body parts.

All of them also possessed the unique power of the divine tree to control plant life forms, but their abilities were restricted to their respective realms.

The higher their realm, the more powerful the power became.

And This particular Root had awakened with a deep-rooted grudge and petty attitude, which puzzled the Orc chief, who couldn’t understand its unusual behavior.

He was a cold-hearted Mage who had experienced numerous bloodbaths during his time at the War God Mage Academy.

And He wouldn’t waste his time on a student he deemed unworthy of cultivation.

The 200-meter run was a way to test Alec and his team. If they couldn’t pass it, the captain would reconsider shooting the ballista, and maybe allowing most of them die, before acting.

"If we don’t stop fighting now, we may never be able to catch that guy, You want your power stones, right?, I only want the leader of the group, Let’s work together, A truce," the Root proposed, recognizing the urgency of the situation.

The Root only spoke as they neared the city gates, realizing they were already far away from the Divine Tree’s regions.

If he were to face another attack of the same level as the one Terran used against him last time, survival would be doubtful, as he was far from the Forest and won’t be able to sacrifice his cultivation for his life.

He knew that if he were to be killed here, even the Divine Tree wouldn’t go into a rage or fight for revenge.

The Orc chief glanced at the Root, still running alongside him in their pursuit of the human mages.

He suspected that something was at play here, and his trust in the Root was so low that even now, he hesitated to believe its words.

However, as he looked ahead, he realized that he had much more to lose.

Once they crossed a certain distance, he was certain the human city would support the mages.

It was the academy’s way of training their mages.

"Truce then, let’s get this fucker!" the Orc chief declared, making a decision fueled by self-interest.

"That sounds just right to me," the Root accepted, willing to put aside their differences for now.

As they ceased their clashes and joined forces, the Orc chief and the Root embarked on a full-on chase after Alec.

"Alec! They’re gaining on us. I think they’re cooperating now," Agnes informed Alec as they continued running.

"Shit, this is out of my plans, Well, it’s time to make adjustments. Knight, Agnes, James, Grace, Gabriel, you all need to stay back with me and engage in a draining battle to hold them off while the rest make a full-speed escape to the city gates,"

Alec began giving instructions, preparing his comrades for the next phase of their strategy.

"Alec, we can support you, Just let us fight alongside you,"

Brandon couldn’t suppress his need to voice his offer.

Though Arthur remained silent this time , but his eyes made it clear that he also stood behind Brandon’s suggestion.
