Chapter 416 Lin Chen's Majesty
Chapter 416 Lin Chen's Majesty
When Lin Chen woke up naturally and came out of his room, the courtyard was already filled with a fragrant aroma.
Da Shuang and Xiao Shuang set out bowls and chopsticks on the stone table, one serving porridge and the other setting out plates, their movements as light and quick as if they were dancing.
Xiao Shuang looked up at Lin Chen as she swayed, hesitated, and then quickly glanced at Lan Fenghuang.
Lin Chen's heart skipped a beat.
Damn, Lan Fenghuang really promoted herself.
Lin Chen walked towards the stone table without changing his expression. Yao Yao was already sitting on the stool, tapping the rim of her bowl with chopsticks in her hand. She grinned when she saw him.
That smile looked really off, like a weasel that had stolen a chicken.
"Good morning, my husband." Her voice was sickeningly sweet.
Lin Chen sat down next to her: "Did you take the wrong medicine?"
Yao Yao didn't answer, but leaned in to smell his sleeves and then his collar, like a little puppy.
Lin Chen flicked her forehead, and she pulled back, covering her forehead and chuckling.
Lan Fenghuang was the last to come out of the kitchen, carrying a bowl of millet porridge. She put it on the table, clapped her hands, and sat down.
She seemed normal; she glanced at Lin Chen and nodded, "Let's eat."
But Lin Chen noticed that when she sat down, she deliberately chose a seat as far away from him as possible.
This was planned long ago!
"Dinner's ready!" Yao Yao was the first to reach for a steamed bun. After taking it, she didn't rush to eat it. She took a small bite, her eyes darting around Lin Chen's face.
Lin Chen picked up the bowl of porridge, took a sip, and said without changing his expression, "Speak your mind, or shut up."
Yao Yao blinked: "Husband, what time did you go to sleep last night?"
Lin Chen paused for a moment: "Why are you asking that?"
"Just asking." Yao Yao shook her head. "I got up to get a drink of water last night and saw your room light was still on..."
Lin Chen slapped her on the forehead: "You should mind your own business. Why are you bothering me about what time I go to sleep?"
"They just care about you." Yao Yao covered her forehead, looking aggrieved.
Lan Fenghuang, who was standing to the side, finally couldn't help but chuckle. She picked up the bowl of porridge to cover half of her face, but her eyes curved into crescent moons.
With a bite of her steamed bun, A-Yue mumbled, "I also got up last night and I think I saw the Prince returning from the front hall..."
Before she could finish speaking, A-Yue suddenly shut up.
Because she saw Lin Chen put down his bowl of porridge.
The movement was very light; the bottom of the bowl hit the stone table with a muffled thud.
Not big.
But the entire courtyard fell silent instantly.
Yao Yao's smile froze on her face, and her chopsticks stopped in mid-air.
A-Yue dared not chew the bun in her mouth, her cheeks bulged, and her eyes widened.
Both Da Shuang and Xiao Shuang lowered their heads, even their breathing became soft.
Liu Shengxue paused slightly in her hand holding the porridge bowl, and quietly put the bowl down.
Liu Sheng Piao Piao and Shan Ling Kong Ya huddled in a corner, not daring to breathe.
Lan Fenghuang's smile faded, and she sat up straight.
Lin Chen showed no expression, calmly glancing at the women.
But with just that one glance, everyone was frozen in place, no one dared to move, no one dared to utter a sound.
Yao Yao's face turned pale, her lips trembled, and she whispered, "Husband, I...I just..."
Lin Chen didn't say anything, picked up the bowl of porridge and continued drinking.
After finishing his drink, he put down the bowl, picked up a steamed bun, took a bite, and chewed slowly.
The only sound in the courtyard was the sound of him chewing steamed buns.
After finishing chewing, he said casually, "Eat your food, then we'll set off."
The voice wasn't loud, and the tone was casual, but no one dared to respond.
Yao Yao kept her head down and obediently drank her porridge, not daring to move her eyes.
A-Yue swallowed the bun in her mouth and obediently took a second bite, biting it very carefully, like a thief.
Da Shuang and Xiao Shuang carefully drank their porridge.
Lan Fenghuang glanced at Lin Chen, then at the other women, her lips twitched slightly, but she said nothing.
She knew it all too well.
Lin Chen is usually carefree and can joke around with anyone. He doesn't respect elders and just laughs off whatever the girls say.
But that doesn't mean he has no temper. When he really gets serious, everyone has to behave.
After all, everyone knows how they got here.
Lin Chen is kind to them; that's because he's benevolent.
But if they really think they can ride on Lin Chen's head, then they're just being foolish.
So when Lin Chen's face darkened, everyone became obedient.
After quietly finishing breakfast, Da Shuang and Xiao Shuang quickly cleared away the dishes and chopsticks, while Lan Fenghuang and Liu Shengxue packed their luggage. No one dared to say a word.
Yao Yao sat on the stool, head down, her fingers twisting the hem of her clothes, her eyes a little red.
She knew she had spoken too quickly and had become a bit spoiled.
Lin Chen glanced at her, sighed, and reached out to ruffle her hair.
"Alright, stop making that face. I didn't scold you."
Yao Yao raised her head, her eyes brimming with tears: "Husband, I didn't mean to..."
"I know." Lin Chen withdrew his hand. "Be more careful out in the future. We'll talk about it when we get back."
Yao Yao nodded vigorously.
Lingbo walked over from the side and stopped next to Lin Chen.
"Don't go looking for other women after messing with me next time."
His voice was cold, and he left without looking back.
Lin Chen was taken aback for a moment, then smiled helplessly.
Well, this one's throwing a tantrum too.
The carriage stopped in front of the inn.
The girls boarded the bus one after another, with Yao Yao being the last. Before getting on, she glanced back at the second floor of the inn; the windows were closed and the curtains were drawn.
She pouted and climbed into the carriage.
Lin Chen stood by the car and looked up at the window.
The curtains moved slightly.
He smiled and climbed onto the carriage.
As soon as the curtain was drawn, Yao Yao came closer, but this time she didn't dare to be too presumptuous. She carefully sat down next to him, her voice very low:
"Husband, are you really not going to go and say goodbye?"
Lin Chen closed his eyes: "No need!"
Yao Yao whispered, "They've already...they've already done *that*, and you're just leaving like this?"
Lin Chen opened his eyes and glanced at Yao Yao indifferently.
Yao Yao's face turned pale instantly, and she stammered, "Husband, I—I didn't mean that—I just—"
"Alright." Lin Chen closed his eyes. "This matter ends here."
Yao Yao's lips moved, as if she wanted to say something, but then she didn't dare to.
With his head down, he gave a soft "hmm" and huddled obediently to the side, not daring to make a sound.
The carriage was so quiet it felt a little oppressive.
A-Yue sat opposite, clutching a bag of dry rations, not daring to move.
The two girls, one big and one small, huddled together, even their breathing was soft.
Liu Shengxue looked out the window, her face expressionless, but her fingers kept rubbing her cuffs.
Liu Sheng Piao Piao and Shan Ling Kong Ya lowered their heads and remained silent, not daring to breathe.
Lan Fenghuang leaned against the car wall, looked at Lin Chen, then at the girls, and sighed softly.
She broke the silence: "Husband, we were just joking, we didn't mean anything by it."
Lin Chen hummed in agreement: "I know."
Lan Fenghuang glanced at Lin Chen cautiously, then said nothing more.
The carriage swayed and wobbled forward. No one spoke inside; only the sound of the wheels rolling over the road could be heard.
After walking about half a mile, Lin Chen suddenly lifted the carriage curtain and looked back.
A figure stood at the entrance of the inn.
Yang Mimi, wearing a light blue jacket and with her hair casually tied up, stood behind the threshold, one hand on the door frame, watching the carriage disappear into the distance.
The wind blew her hair and the hem of her clothes. Her eyes were red, and her lips were slightly parted, as if she wanted to shout but didn't.
Lin Chen looked at her and suddenly smiled.
He lowered the carriage curtain, closed his eyes, and with a thought, sent a voice directly over:
"Boss lady, why are you crying? If you miss it, come to the capital and find me. I'll open a big inn for you, a hundred times bigger than this one."
In the distance, Yang Mimi, standing behind the threshold, trembled violently and stared at the direction where the carriage had disappeared for a very long time.
Inside the carriage, Yao Yao secretly glanced at Lin Chen, wanting to say something, but then held back.
Lin Chen, with his eyes closed, suddenly spoke: "Ask whatever you want."
Yao Yao paused for a moment, then cautiously asked, "Husband, did you just use your divine sense to transmit your voice?"
"Um."
"For the proprietress?"
"Um."
Yao Yao hesitated for a moment: "Then...will she come?"
Lin Chen didn't answer, but the corners of his mouth curved slightly.
Lan Fenghuang chimed in from the side, "Whether he comes or not is not important; what's important is that my husband has incurred another debt of romantic entanglement."
Lin Chen opened his eyes and glanced at her: "You still have the nerve to say that? Who spread this rumor?"
Seeing that Lin Chen was no longer angry, Lan Fenghuang blinked and looked innocent: "I didn't say anything."
"You didn't say anything, how did they know?"
Lan Fenghuang laughed, a laugh that was incredibly irritating: "I don't know, maybe it was the wind."
Lin Chen: "..."
Yao Yao, who was standing next to her, finally couldn't hold back anymore and burst out laughing. But halfway through her laughter, she remembered being glared at earlier and quickly covered her mouth, her eyes curving into crescents.
Ah Yue chuckled to herself and whispered, "Your Highness, that proprietress is quite pretty."
Lin Chen glanced at her: "You do have a good eye."
Ah Yue chuckled: "I've always had a good eye."
Lan Fenghuang said leisurely, "You certainly have good taste!"
A-Yue's cheeks flushed slightly, but she nodded emphatically, "That's right, Your Highness is the best person in the world."
Laughter finally filled the carriage, and the oppressive atmosphere dissipated.
