Chapter 84 Enemy Sniper
Chapter 84 Enemy Sniper
Lu Ye rolled to the side and behind the rock, his body pressed against the ground, without raising his head.
"Sniper."
He immediately pressed the communication button, his voice extremely low.
"The enemy has a sniper who has roughly located my position."
The female officer's voice immediately came through the channel: "Lu, retreat to the bunker! It's too dangerous for you to be out there alone!"
The gray wolf's voice followed immediately: "No."
The female officer's tone turned cold: "Grey Wolf!"
Grey Wolf did not back down: "He is our only external distraction. If Lu Jin enters the bunker, the enemy will trap us inside. We can't hold out for an hour."
Lu Ye lay behind the rock, listening to the two's conversation, and slowly exhaled.
"Grey Wolf is right."
The female officer said in a deep voice, "Your position has been spotted by a sniper."
"That's why I absolutely cannot go into the bunker," Lu Ye said. "The enemy snipers' primary target right now is me. As long as I'm outside, they'll have to divert their attention to suppressing me."
Grey Wolf immediately said, "We've arranged a rotation. Vasily and Lynx will take turns guarding the rear of the bunker. The commander and Iron Hammer will take turns guarding the frontal PKM. Detonator will watch over the Giant Bear, and Iron Eagle will maintain communications."
Lu Ye: "Watch out behind the bunker. The enemy might send a squad to flank us; they won't just attack from the front."
Gray Wolf: "Understood. You focus on dealing with the sniper."
Lu Ye did not answer.
The enemy sniper has fired the first shot.
This means that the other party at least got his general direction.
The driver of vehicle number one risked his life to grab the radio, not to call for artillery fire.
He told the people in the forest his firing direction, the possible high position, and the angle from which the people in the Humvee died.
The Ukrainian troops in the woods stopped their attack, not to retreat, but to wait for snipers.
"It can no longer be fixed in the original position."
Lu Ye moved slowly, clinging to the rocks.
He didn't look up, but simply touched the spot where he had been hit by a bullet with his finger.
The bullet hit the rock at an angle.
Judging from the direction of the flying debris, the bullet came from the right front of the woodland.
"About a kilometer or more."
"Use night vision or thermal imaging to assist in observation."
"Conventional equipment is already nearing its limit at this distance."
"But I just fired several shots, and the heat from the barrel and the firing window may have left marks."
Lu Ye did not rush to retaliate.
They were waiting for him to look up.
At that moment, the heat source in the driver's seat of the second Hummer moved slightly outside the edge of the scope.
Lu Ye observed from a low angle through the cracks in the rocks.
The driver of vehicle number two is tentatively climbing into the driver's seat.
The movements were very slow; first, he hid his body behind the car door, and then slowly moved toward the steering wheel.
Lu Ye's eyes turned cold: "Bait."
This bait serves two purposes.
First, confirm whether the sniper shot hit him.
If Lu Ye didn't fire, it means he might be dead, or he might be suppressed and unable to move.
Secondly, if Lu Ye fires, the enemy sniper can readjust his position based on the sound of the gunshot, the heat source of the muzzle, and the trajectory of the bullet.
Lu Ye knew very well.
The DVL-10 has very low firing characteristics, but it is not entirely without them.
Especially when the other side already knows the general direction and is using infrared and night vision equipment to monitor the high ground.
If he fires again, he will definitely be exposed.
However, if they don't fire, once the second vehicle successfully reverses, the remaining personnel may be able to re-establish a firing point.
More importantly, he needs the enemy sniper to fire a second shot so that he can pinpoint a more accurate location.
Lu Ye glanced at the DVL-10 beside him, then looked at the system's inventory.
"He's waiting for me to shoot, so let him have his way!"
Lu Ye kept close to the ground and took out the heavily modified SVCh from his inventory, which was equipped with a dual-mode tandem scope for thermal imaging and low-light.
He gently pushed SVCh to a crevice about a meter away from his current position.
The movement was slow; the tripod was wedged into the crevice between the rocks, and the gun was pointed to the right front of the woodland.
Then, he retreated to the location of DVL-10.
"Use DVL-10 as bait."
"Use SVCh to catch snipers."
"You only have one chance."
Lu Ye reattached the DVL-10.
The driver of car number two finally managed to move half of his body into the driver's seat.
His hand touched the steering wheel.
In the scope, the driver's head was mostly obscured by the car door, with only his profile and neck visible.
Lu Ye decisively pulled the trigger.
"puff."
The bullet pierced the edge of the car window and struck the driver's side of the neck.
The driver's body suddenly lurched to the side, slamming onto the steering wheel.
[Kill 1 enemy soldier, reward 100 points!]
Lu Ye did not check the result after firing the shot.
He immediately released his gun and rolled to the left.
The instant he left behind DVL-10.
"Snapped!"
The second sniper bullet struck just in front of the DVL-10's original firing position.
The rubble exploded and grazed the back of Lu Ye's hand.
But this time, Lu Ye was waiting for this very shot.
He had rolled to the back of SVCh.
Shoulder to shoulder. Cheek to cheek.
The professional knowledge gained from [Precision Shooting LV3] and my own [Perception LV1] began to work.
The impact point, angle of incidence, and direction of the flying rocks from the second bullet quickly formed a line in his mind.
The enemy's position is on the back of the slope to the right, about a kilometer away, where there is a fallen tree trunk.
The heat disturbance near the muzzle hadn't completely dissipated after the sniper fired.
Lu Ye detected a very small, unusual heat source using the dual-mode scope.
"I've found you."
Pull the trigger.
"puff!"
The sound of this shot was much clearer than that of the DVL-10.
The bullet flew towards the right front slope of the woodland.
After a brief delay.
A system notification sounded in my mind.
[Enemy sniper eliminated*1, reward 300 points!]
Lu Ye did not get up immediately.
He quickly pulled back his gun, flipped over to the other side of the rock, and hid again.
A few seconds later, a chaotic shouting erupted from the woods.
Lu Ye pressed the communication button, his voice steady: "Enemy sniper eliminated."
Inside the bunker, Gray Wolf immediately responded, "Confirmed?"
Lu Ye was immediately taken aback: "How can I confirm this? Is it a system notification?"
So they could only make up a reason: "Confirmed. No secondary reaction at the target location; chaos has occurred in the woodland."
The female officer paused for half a second: "Are you injured?"
Lu Ye glanced at the abrasion on the back of his hand: "It's a minor injury, it won't affect shooting."
Grey Wolf said, "Well done. Everyone, pay attention, the enemy sniper has been eliminated, they're likely to launch a full-scale attack soon."
Lu Ye took the opportunity to put the DVL-10 back into his inventory and switch back to the SVCh. Now it was no longer possible to perform a silent kill.
He did not stay in the same spot.
"Damn it!" Lu Ye suddenly cursed after changing the sniper position.
"What's wrong!" Gray Wolf asked hurriedly.
"I was so focused on the enemy sniper that a Humvee took the opportunity to drive away!"
"Next, you need to watch out for their heavy firepower!"
"Understood! You should also be careful, their primary target is still you!" Gray Wolf reminded him.
Just then, movement occurred again at the edge of the woodland, with several bushes shaking simultaneously.
Lu Ye saw at least six or seven heat sources begin to move forward.
Further back, even more figures spread out.
They did not follow the path.
Instead, it pushes up from the edge of the woodland.
Lu Ye pressed the communication button.
"They're going to launch a full-scale attack."
Gray Wolf's voice came through the earpiece: "Closer."
Lu Ye stared at the heat source at the front, his finger on the trigger.
"clear."
"Wait until they enter the trap zone."
